8th Grade Specific Information

With the safety of our children, volunteer catechists, and parish community in mind, Faith Formation classes will not be taking place in the Parish Center.  All classes will be conducted online and require parent assistance for October, November, December and January 2021. In January 2021, we will reevaluate the COVID risks to determine if Faith Formation classes can safely be held in the Parish Center.

When classes can be scheduled in the Parish Center, classes for Grade 8 students take place on even-numbered Thursdays from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Please consult the calendar for dates.  The weeks that Parish Center classes are not held, students complete work in an online Learning Management System with Zoom check-ins.  Please consult the calendar for the dates of the Zoom check-ins.

Each student will receive a religion book that must be carried to class and then carried home (when classes can be scheduled in the Parish Center.)  Due to the Covid-19 virus, no books can be kept in the Parish Center.

STUDENT SUPPLY LIST FOR GRADE 8

Each 8th grade student needs to bring a pen along with their religion book for every Parish Center class.

ONLINE LEARNING MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

To complete work in the online Learning Management System and to get appropriate credit, the student must use an email that has first and last name.

It is suggested that an email is created for the exclusive use of the Faith Formation program.

An email must match the name that the student is registered under.

SUNDAY MASS ATTENDANCE

St. Elizabeth’s Faith Formation Program requires attendance at Sunday Mass. Every lesson builds upon the experience of actively and fully participating in Sunday Mass every week. It is very confusing and counterproductive when a child is taught a mixed message: we are Catholic and Catholics participate at Sunday Mass, but our family doesn’t. The Mass is “the source and summit of the Christian life” and as so we must be faithful to Jesus’ command to “do this in memory of me.” At the baptism of your child, you accepted the responsibility of training them in the practice of the faith and to bring them up to keep God’s commandments. As followers of Jesus, therefore, you are called to make Sunday Mass a priority in your family life. Mass is your excuse for missing everything else!
